Scleral Contact Lenses
If you’ve found that traditional contact lenses are uncomfortable, then scleral contact lenses may be a good option for you. Scleral contact lenses are larger contact lenses that are designed to vault over your cornea and rest on the white of your eye (known as a sclera). Their larger size and vaulted design makes these contacts an excellent option for patients with astigmatism, irregular corneas, or severe dry eyes.
Hybrid Contact Lenses
Hybrid lenses are specifically designed to help patients with mild astigmatism correct their vision. These lenses combine the crisp, clear vision of rigid contact lenses with the comfort of soft contact lenses. This is achieved using a rigid, gas-permeable centre surrounded by a soft skirt.
These contacts are great for patients with irregularly shaped corneas, and their large size and thin edges make them less likely to become dislodged during sports or other high-energy activities, making them a popular choice among athletes.
